In a previous post, we discussed how Microsoft Power BI, a cloud-based analytics service, enables organizations to use interactive dashboards, reports and data visualization tools to analyze a broad range of data types. Microsoft recently introduced a real-time dashboard tile feature, which can be created by users in minutes so they can quickly view and analyze real-time data. The new features and capabilities available with Power BI make it easier for users to convert Internet of Things (IoT) data into actionable business insights.

These days, just about any object can be connected to the Internet and, as a result, become a source of data. In fact, researchers are attempting to install Internet-connected sensors inside an active volcano in Nicaragua. The goal is to monitor the volcano’s activities in real time, gather environmental data, predict eruptions and create an early warning system.

Numerous studies show that organizations are rapidly adopting a hybrid cloud model. According to the Rightscale 2016 State of the Cloud Report, 82 percent of enterprises have a hybrid cloud strategy, and 71 percent have adopted a hybrid cloud. A 2015 Forrester Consulting survey of large multinational organizations found that 58 percent were already using some type of hybrid cloud.

Power BI is a collection of analytical tools and utilities enabling businesses to synthesize data and present it in structured formats. Users can create interactive dashboards and reports from localized data, up through enterprise-wide data models. The data architecture supports uniform models providing data consistency throughout the enterprise. Once dashboards and reports are created, they can easily be shared with any audience scope.

SharePoint Online has an almost infinite and unlimited number of use cases and solutions. After all, it’s a highly extensible platform that can be customized to fit any business need. With little to no customization or development, it is a highly effective and useful solution even if used “out-of-the-box.”

With the release of Microsoft's Granular Licensing of Office 365 Enterprise E5, a significantly large amount of new services is available to offer your clients. Whether your business is already using Office 365 and simply upgrading another license SKU to E5, or is migrating to Office 365 for the first time, oftentimes simply applying all of the available options for the businesses client base is ok. In other scenarios, a more systematic and staged approach is required.
